Power Vista / Niagara Falls Field Trip

On Friday, we went on a field trip put on by one of the area homeschool groups. It started at the Power Vista with a guided tour / demonstration and a visit from Nikola Tesla. Then we went to Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park for brief talks given by Augustus Porter (previous owner of the island) and one of the sisters, Celinda Eliza Whitney, who the Three Sisters Islands were named after. We also heard Annie Edison Taylor tell her story about being the first person to successfully go over the Falls, and Father Hennepin talk about his amazement at seeing the Falls for the first time.

We had the option to do the Cave of the Winds tour, but Bug and the baby were done (and so was I), so we went home instead. The tour took most of the day. I wouldn’t mind doing it again in the future, but I think we’ll wait several years before we do it again.
