1. Uncover the science of one flower.
–> Talk to a real botanist and learn more. The woman in charge of the wildflower workshop was a botanist. She talked about what she does as a botanist and why it is an important job.
2. Look under the petals.
–> Meet flower families. The girls learned about flowers native to Western NY at the wildflower workshop during our camping trip.
3. Find out how flowers help people.
–> Flowers are healers /calming. The girls learned about the properties of flowers at the wildflower workshop during our camping trip.
4. Have fun with flowers.
–> I used GSRV’s suggestion in their badge planing guide and taught the girls how to quill. They made a picture of a quilled flower. Most of the girls got the hang of it fairly quickly. All of them loved it!
5. Send a message in flower code.
–> My AL made a rebus story using images of flowers in place of certain words. The girls had to figure out the meaning of the flower to be able to read the story.
